Cancelling your subscription and data retention

How to cancel, the 90-day grace period, paid retention options for the HMRC six-year requirement, and what gets deleted when.

Cancelling

Cancel from billing settings at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle — you keep access until then and no further invoices are issued.

The 90-day grace period

After cancellation, your data is retained for 90 days at no charge. During this window you can:

  • Reactivate and continue where you left off — nothing has changed.
  • Export every record (stock book, calculations, journals, audit log) as CSV/PDF/XLSX.
  • Hand the firm over to another OneSixth account.

HMRC's six-year requirement

HMRC requires margin scheme records (stock book, supporting documents, calculations) to be kept for six years. The 90-day grace covers the immediate handover; for the full six years you have two options.

Paid retention beyond the grace period

  • Monthly retention — read-only access to all records plus continued export, billed monthly. Cancel at any time.
  • Six-year prepaid — single payment that locks in read-only retention for the full HMRC period. Best value if you know you won't need the live product again.

Live pricing for both options is on /pricing.

Reminder cadence

We email at day 60, day 75, day 85, and day 89 of the grace period, and again 30 days before any paid retention expires. The day-89 email always offers a one-click extension.

Permanent deletion

After all retention windows expire, data is permanently deleted within 30 days, including from backups. We send a final confirmation when this completes.
