Connecting Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent

OneSixth uses OAuth to connect to your accounting platform. We never ask for or store passwords. Each connection is scoped per organisation and can be revoked at any time from Settings → Linked accounts.

What we read

• Invoices, bills, and journals within the period(s) you're calculating.
• Chart of accounts and tax rates so we can post journals correctly.
• Organisation metadata (name, country, fiscal year end, VAT return frequency and period stagger).

What we write

• VAT adjustment journals you explicitly approve.
• Optional: tax rates and nominal accounts during scheme setup, only after you confirm.
• For Partial Exemption, revised tax codes pushed back onto invoices and bills when you conclude a review (you approve this step).

What we don't touch

• Bank feeds, payroll, contacts, fixed assets.
• Anything outside the schemes you've enabled.

Connecting more than one organisation

• Xero is multi-tenant: one Xero login can expose several organisations, and you choose which to connect.
• FreeAgent accountants pick the specific client from their practice dashboard during connection.
• The Connections hub (Settings → Connections) shows every connected platform per organisation, and Linked accounts lets you revoke tokens.

VAT frequency & stagger detection

Where the platform exposes it, OneSixth reads your VAT return frequency (monthly, quarterly, annual) and quarterly stagger and pre-fills scheme setup with it. You can always override the detected value — if you do, we show a short notice so the change is deliberate.
